fun day out

Tanganyika Wildlife Park

i may not be able to pronounce the name of this park, but i only have good things to say about it! ha

it was amazing and we had a blast

we got up close and personal with the animals

fed them right out of the palms of our hands

saw animals interact much more than at the zoo (i think)

it was a small park... 

not a whole lot of animals but it was such a fun experience

the giraffes

adam just laughed every time the giraffe would grab the food from him. so funny

giraffes have some LONG tongues it was crazy

i was scared, i won't lie, when it's tongue would come out and lick your entire hand!

i was much more of a wuss than my kids were ha.

the monkeys

these were show-off monkeys! i have never seen monkeys swing around as much as these ones did. it was so fun to watch them. usually you are sitting there waiting for monkeys to move but these guys were crazy! kids loved to watch them

the birds

this exhibit you could go in, follow a pathway and watch the birds. 

i personally love birds. always have. so it was fun to see my kids love them too!!

the penguins
I can't blame the penguins for not being too active, they just aren't made for this 100+ degree weather that Kansas is providing.  but we did see a few of them swimming around. at least they were able to stay cool in this dreaded heat!!

the albino alligator

there are only a few in the world they are pretty rare. so it was cool to see one.

Unfortunly it just hung out under the tree.

the kids were hoping it would move and swim in the pond. ha

 All 3 kids are obsessed with alligators

The White Bengal Tigers

this tiger was huge! Even in the cage as he paced around  he was still intimidating.. the boys really liked watching him. abby kept yelling at the other tiger to wake up! ha

dippin' dots was a great break to get out of the heat!

the bunnies
not the most exotic of the animals.. but the kids sure enjoyed them. 
they were able to pet them and feed them lettuce, they were cute.

the turtles
Of all the kids, adam LOVED the turtles the most.  In fact he wanted to stay and feed them all day. 

i'm not going to lie... when they would come all at once attacking the food i was little scared!

do turtles bite?  i had no clue. ha. but the kids had fun watching them. there was a baby baby turtle there and the poor thing would get bullied by the others and pushed out of the way fighting for food

see... i was backed into a corner! haha. you can't really tell.. but i jumped out at that point

 my "not such an animal lover" parker stayed back for the most part... he would feed the small animals by reaching over the bench only.  He didn't like necessarily feeding them until the food was gone and we were walking away. 
 guess he is a little like me:) ha.

Ring-tailed lemurs 
i'd never seen this kind of animal... especially this close. 
the kids thought it was cool that they could run across the log without falling in the water.  ha

the zebras

despite the fact that no two zebras have the same stripe patterns... (which was posted on the sign)
this stop was pretty boring

the kangaroos

i've NEVER been up close to kangaroos before.. it was pretty cool

we walked along a path and there was a guide that took us along and talked about them

we even saw a mama kangaroo pick up her baby and put it in her pouch!!! really?? 

 I've always wanted to see that!

before we left... we had to make a stop and watch the monkeys again. The kids loved them!

i'm shocked i was able to get a picture  (okay sort of, abby's not looking) 

they didn't have any interest in taking a picture with mom. they wanted to go go go

Luckily for me, Jen will tag along with us so we can do all these fun things...

i wouldn't attempt these activities by myself! ha

we also saw a Rhinoceros, a cheetah, some goats, and i'm sure a few others i can't remember...
supposedly there were camels but we didn't see them
the kids still talk about this park... we had a fun day!!
