During our stay in kansas city, we were only a short distance away from a few church sites.. so we took advantage of it! we wish janel and her family could have made it with us... but due to a complete stranger smashing into their parked car that morning... (details later) they couldn't come!!
It did work out however that our little ones got tired so they staying with them and took napsand the 4 of us were able to go. that was nice. A part of me wishes they could have come... to experience it but then they are so little so maybe in a few years... it was nice to really experience it without them grabbing on to me and needing this and that.
first we stopped at the Kansas City Missouri Temple
it is not yet opened.. but it looked beautiful and hope we can go back to it one day!
next stop...
what a spiritual place. just be there and to listen to a little of what Joseph Smith went through...
i am amazed at his faith and the other men too. I'm not sure i would have been that strong!
i feel so blessed and glad we have these places to visit and ponder about.
then we went to the Independence Visitors Center
i've been to these places when i went on a Church History Tour after i graduated HS but it was still neat to go back and visit these places. they had done a lot of remodeling in this visitors center so that was fun to see that.
when we returned back to the kids we all got ready to go out to dinner at the
famous Oklahoma Joes BBQ
it's pretty tasty and of course we have to experience it. It's the best BBQ place ever they say!
crazy how people are lined up out the door! but we had a fun time. eating out is always a good time with family!
the night was still young so we went and did some shopping and let the kids run around.
okay... me and Janel did some shopping and the husbands watched the kids;) it was fun
we also went and the Country club Plaza and walked around there too. It is really pretty and there are neat old buildings to look at, statues and art all around too
it was fun to walk around.
the boys happen to be matching that day:)
love these two boys
we got the girls the same dresses at the GAP
of course they wanted to wear them:) they loved being twiners!
hanging out on the city streets
they look happy to get their picture taken huh?
i only wanted ONE picture of all the kids together... is that too much to ask!!? ha
long Eventful FUN day
