Kalei invited us to go to Hogle zoo with some of the Luekenga clan.
we had a great time. well... when we got there that is.
remember when i said in a previous post that i ran out of gas of the freeway..? well i did.
it's definitely not a proud moment, i've never done this in my whole life. and i will never again.
thought i'd record it, to maybe laugh about it one day. maybe...
it was at the worst spot, i mean the worst spot EVER. right when you exit from I-15 to go on 80 E toward Hogle zoo... my truck completly locked up. i didn't know what the heck happened at first! but it prettty much slowed down to a stop as i was trying to get to the emergency stop lane. Luckily Kalei was behind me (which she was freaking out didn't know what i was doing!) so we thought of what to do... we knew we could get gas at the station up at the next exit but weren't sure how to get back on the freeway. i thought i could just run to the gas station as it looked like it was right off the exit. she thought i was crazy but that seemed easier. but we decided that i would go, take kalei's car and she would sit with my kids. thank goodness i did! the gas station was NOT right off the freeway, it was a couple miles off. ha
anyways, the clerk there was great, gave me a free gas can with gas even filled in it, at least enough to get me back there. I get back to the truck and this is what i will never forget, well first off all my fuel tank is on the drivers side, SAME side as the traffic coming along at HIGH SPEEDS! never been so scared in my life! Kalei's husband luckily showed up as he was on his way to meet us at the zoo. He helped me get it into my fuel tank... but standing there, inches away from the line was FREAKY! just kept wanting it to fill up and get back in my truck. i remember Jake looking at the on-coming traffic and saying, Oh crap Oh crap. as two cars were merging on and trying to get over... ya... that is right were i ran out of gas I'll leave it at that. Kalei said she was in the car watching each car/truck pass us thinking to herself, move over move over!!! i was shaking for the next 1/2 hour. NEVER AGAIN. i was scared for our lives, scared my truck would get run into with the kids in it... and thinking the worst as i always do! we survived. next time i will fill up BEFORE getting on the freeway;)
onto the zoo... i didn't take my camera, therefore we didn't get many pictures. It is nice when i don't have it sometimes, and not have to worry about it and just relax and have fun. but i always wish i had some when it is over... oh well. . We had a fun time walking around as my kids love animals. they ran from one exhibit to the next. parker is at fun age where he is really interested in the animals and wants to learn about them. he loved the bird show, and the reptile show. except he didn't want to hold the snakes, i don't blame him!
We all had a great time. It was hot but it wasn't too bad. thanks Kalei for inviting us!!!!
