moving day

{ june 3rd }
back up a little.... we had know for a couple months that we were moving. So during that time i started de-junking  each room getting rid of "stuff" we didn't need anymore.  James was away working and i "thought" i had plenty of time and we wouldn't be stressed or anything. boy was i WRONG!  It was the hardest move EVER
i haven't moved very many times... actually this would be our first BIG move. Of course we've done summers.. but for those we just pack up the essentials: clothes bedding kitchen things etc and off we go. packing EVERYTHING is quite the process. i had boxes everywhere... each room had 3 piles going: Kansas / storage unit / garage sale. see how this was so hard? yes it was. Plus i was living in the house so i still needed things to use while being home. anyways.. then at the end of May James returns (after being away 3 weeks... the longest he's been gone for at a time) and we got packing!! we left for a few days to go to mesquite for our family reunion and we knew when we got back that we had 3 days to pack the WHOLE HOUSE!  James is a lot more positive than i am. okay pretty much in any circumstance. so he wasn't worried. well walking around the house seeing ALL that still needed to be done? i sure was :)
We decided that thursday the 2nd of june was moving night.. everything was to go to the storage unit.
the day went pretty well... things were getting boxed up and out to the garage. i met some friends at the park to let the kids play and then they had naps. so therefore i was able to get more stuff done. 6pm was the time, the time we had asked some friends and neighbors to come help us load the trucks. As that time was nearing... i become overwhelmed and knew we weren't ready at ALL! james of course felt fine.. and says it's okay.  our friends lisa and Dennis showed up with dinner, SO NICE.  i was running around everywhere trying to pull off sheets etc for them to move all the furniture so we didn't even have time to eat. they stayed for a bit and started helping us moving things. It was so nice, i'm sure they regretted bringing us dinner:)

well everyone showed up, like they said they would. we are seriously so blessed with amazing friends and ward member for being so generous and helpful. You don't realize HOW MUCH STUFF YOU OWN until you load it up into a truck. i was embarrassed.. no joke. we had so much "crap" i couldn't believe it. it was a never ending process... people going in and out taking out box after box. It was like we had been married for 20 years!!!  haha. i even has a huge pile for garage sale stuff. it was just nuts.
plus once all the "big" stuff was cleared i still had little piles around so people would come and and ask, "you sure you don't need any help" haha. my kitchen had boxes everywhere but it was stuff we were taking to Kansas! the kitchen boxes were already loaded up. It was quite the scene.
i wish i had taken pictures.... i didn't! it was to crazy and it was the last thing on my mind. (weird huh)

so.... two trailers later, TWO storage units yes TWO we got it all packed away. I couldn't believe it!
we even left a few things in my parents basement. still can't believe how much stuff we had
which brings me to the next couple days.  packing for Kanas!!! yep i felt like that week was NEVER going to end. we had planned on leaving on a wednesday but we finally took off saturday!
my mom and dad were LIFE SAVERS as alway and once all of  the beds were gone i hadn't even thought about not being able to sleep there! my mom called.. and asked what she could do and i said, Come get the kids!!!:) she did of course and they had a sleepover at nana and papas house and the kids were happy.
James and i stayed up late that night cleaning up our "piles" and getting things where they needed to go.
we planned on going to my moms late but james totally passed out on the floor! i found some blankets, made us a bed and we both were out around 3 am.
next day... i go get the kids because my mom had to work and my wonderful neighbors the hendersens  were so nice and called to help out anytime with the kids so they played over there that day... and a few other days that week too:) they are so great and we are definitely going to miss them!
that night the kids went over to nana and papas. again, life savers:)
You would think we would be close by then... i mean we were of course but we still had lots to do. for one, CLEAN THE WHOLE HOUSE! so that was my job. i wiped down everything... started to vacuum and it STOPPED on me! it was like 12:30am and i had borrowed my dads since i packed mine away... i was so tired that we just gave up and we did a few last minutes things like having James pack the truck up for the trip the next day! after that we were off to get some sleep, we planned on leaving for Kansas @ 10am the next day.
i woke up at 7 am to run back to the house to finish up cleaning. I got most of it done. except the vacuum still had issues.. so i did everything else. ran a few errands and went to meet james and the kids at just before 10! we made it (okay i think it was 10:30) but hey i was surprised we were actually leaving!!!
THEN WE WERE OFF
leaving richfield was harder than i thought it would be. it was sad to think about it as the day came closer... but driving away was sad. i didn't cry... i was probably just relieved that we finished..
saying goodbye to my family was sad too. we feel SO BLESSED to have lived close to them and it was so nice having them around and spending time with them.
we were exhausted from packing and ready to go at that point. we did have some moments of, are we sure?? lets just come back after the summer. but after all that work, i was like heck no, we aren't upacking all this! ha. i would if we could but we feel good about this move and that is what i have to go with.
So then we took on the journey, 14 hours or so to Kanas. heck yes i was worried sick how the kids would do! parker has made a trip cross country but the twins are HORRIBLE in the car. we drive from richfield to provo ( under 2 hours) and they are yelling,  "I'm stuck, get my out! ... stuck in their seatbealts of course ha) so i was worried to say the least. but i'm happy to announce they were CHAMPS all 3 of them. we were so happy! i'll do a post about it next:)
i did snap a few pictures while in the moving process...
we are just so happy that it is OVER!!! YAY!  thanks a MILLION to all those that helped. really we appreciated you so much and are so blessed to have great friends and neighbors. One call to the bishopric and we had 10 guys come from our ward. seriously so blessed.

as i was packing i caught abby talking to Jesus with her barbies.... couldn't help but smile. it was so cute

then adam joined her...
moving... of course it is a mess!
parker came along and blew abby a kiss. best big brother ever
kisses... or no kisses. abby only likes them when she wants them:)

good thing they are cute because they sure didn't make packing easy!!!
every time i would put things in boxes they were right behind me unloading it. especially the toys!!!
but we did it some how. naptime? i'm sure of it.
but they were good helpers at times too. it was "fun" i guess... maybe there is a better word.
glad it is over. i sure hope the next house we are in forever.
that would be nice:)

hanging out with papa the day before we left... they sure love him!
my mom put them all in the same bed... i laughed when i got a picture/text
i knew it wouldn't last long.. it was a good try:) they had a movie night and had a great time!
this is how i found james when we were finishing up one night.... ha
he'd kill me if her knew i was posting it, but he worked SO hard and did so much
he really is the best. thanks for all you do for us babe!
our garage...
this is the only picture i got. wish i took one of the trucks and storage unit oh well.
but that is a LOT of stuff and that is only a little bit!!

good bye "green house" as the kids called it
dream house of mine. you will surly be missed
it was a great house, lots of room for the kids to run around.
the backyard was amazing and a lot of hours were spent hanging out together there
each kid was spoiled with there own room. that will change of course. it was nice though
i got teary eyed each time we showed the house to potential buyers/renters
it was way to big for us for sure.. don't get me wrong we filled it up and it was great, but too much to clean and we will be down-sizing for sure:)
the twins were born here (the hospital of course) they said their first words, they took their first steps here
a lot of memories were formed, it was a long 2 years with having twins and the craziness of all of it but those memories will be cherished forever. i'm excited to make memories elsewhere:)

So, you're in Wichita? That's where I grew up. I still have lots of family and friends there. Our family friend actually owns the Jimmy John's there. Enjoy the city. Check out cow town while you're there.
